General Information:

Do Outlook® features and design change when using Chilibase®?

No, all Outlook® functions will of course be saved. Nevertheless, you will experience Outlook® in a totally new way! On the bottom left side e.g. (you are able to locate the Chilibase® panel whereever you want, please check the Chilibase® menu) of the Outlook navigation panel the Chilibase® person panel will appear. Having switched on auto-ranking, you will see the person ranking of your actual e-mail selection on demand. Outlook® on its own seems to work without intuition and flexibility – however, active and intuitive working with e-mail is guaranteed with Chilibase®. Spice your mailbox!

What is Chilibase® for Microsoft® Outlook® 2003 and 2007?

Chilibase® is a fully integrated add-in in Outlook® and a professional solution for Outlook® users with a high volume of e-mail in their inbox. Finally, Outlook® can be handled intuitively again using a person-oriented tool. Our ChiliRank® technology enables you to see people you are interested in immediately. On demand you will gain an overview of your group communication and you will save time and, most importantly, money, as creating folders, filing messages and engaging in time-consuming searches becomes a ghost of the past.

Do you offer product support for Chilibase®?

Yes, our team will be available 24 hours a day via a support form at our support area .

How does Chilibase® react to spam mails?

Spam mails will always be classified as “irrelevant” by ChiliRank® technology. Accordingly, spam senders will be hidden permanently. You’ll be able to declare senders as spam-senders with our drag&drop function in our person panel.

Why do I need it?

Who communicated with whom at what time? This is usually what is questioned. In the case of several parties involved in communication, the situation can take on dramatic proportions. At this point, traditional representations of Outlook® are highly overburdened. People do not think in terms of folders – rather, in terms of people.

Why is the traditional way of searching not sufficient?

It does not show you the context of communication! Who participated in a communication? Who is one of my important communication partners and who is not? You will not get an answer to that question from the traditional way of searching. Furthermore you will lose time and will hardly - or with only great effort - achieve a useful result.

Is it possible to search in “a normal way” as well?

Yes, Chilibase® may also be used to search for single events.

What will happen to the Outlook® folders I have already created?

You can continue using them, but you will also soon find out that once you have started working with Chilibase® you will not need them anymore.

System requirements:

Which version of Microsoft® Office is suitable for Chilibase®?

Chilibase® may be used with the following: Microsoft® Office 2003 and 2007.These Office packages contain Outlook® 2003 and 2007.

Is it possible to use Outlook® Exchange when using Chilibase®?

Yes, you can use Chilibase® with Exchange.

Is there an existing Chilibase® version that is suitable for Apple Mac and Lotus Notes?

This is planned.

Does Chilibase® also work when using Outlook® Express, Webaccess and Windows Live Mail?

This is planned.

Is Chilibase® compatible with other Outlook® Add-Ins?

No incompatibilities with other Outlook® Add-Ins are known at that time. If questions arise, please refer to our support area .

I use several e-mail Profiles in Outlook®. Does Chilibase® support those?

Chilibase® does support several e-mail profiles.

When using Chilibase® with Exchange, does Chilibase® also work with public folders?

Yes, public folders are supported.

When using Chilibase® with Exchange, does Chilibase® also work with IMAP?

Yes, it does.

Do I need .NET and what is that? Where can I download it?

Yes, .NET 2.0 or higher must be installed on your PC. Microsoft .NET is an umbrella term that applies to a wide collection of products and technologies from Microsoft. In most cases .NET 2.0 is already installed on PCs, if it isn’t, you can download it here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&DisplayLang=de

After installing Chilibase®, start Outlook® and you will be asked to go through the "Chilibase Indexing Assitant". Only few clicks are needed to configure Chilibase®. The synchronization of your e-mail account in Outlook® will be started first. When this is finished you will see all your corresponding contacts in the person panel.

Can I switch off Chilibase® in Outlook® without uninstalling it?

Yes, please use the “Person Panel Position” (located in Chilibase® menu in the Outlook® toolbar) in order to switch off Chilibase®.

What do I need the menu point “Chilibase” in the Outlook® toolbar for?

Here you can operate several different, infrequently used functions. You can either see the version number, start a quick index, look for updates or to position the person panel.

How can I combine e-mail addresses within the person panel?

This is an important basic function of Chilibase®. Many internet users have more than just one e-mail address. The Chilibase-Ranking might be only useful under certain circumstances, when different e-mail addresses of one contact are combined. Just click on an e-mail address you’re interested in using the left mouse button. Hold the button and drag the e-mail address to the corresponding person in the person panel. This contact will be automatically supplemented by this address and ranked accordingly. This gives you the opportunity of comprising working groups or topics - simply by use of drag&drop.

Can I create and save contacts from the person panel?

Yes, in order to do so you need to select the person you are interested in within the Chilibase® person panel using the right mouse button. A window will appear where you click on “Add new contact“. Now you can operate as you are used to.

What does the colored bar in the person panel mean?

This shows you the ranking of your actual selection of e-mails. People with the biggest bars are placed in the highest ranking position - relative to the selected e-mail - in terms of topics, groups, files or query you will get the highest relevant result. One example of searching will demonstrate easily what is meant by this: If you start searching with the term “Ibiza”, all e-mails containing the word “Ibiza” (depending on your way of searching) will be shown in the inbox window. If you select all these e-mails (e.g. by using Control+A) the person panel will change. The person you have communicated the most with about “Ibiza” will be ranked first - this person will have the biggest bar. The person with the second largest bar will the person you’ve communicated with about Ibiza to a lesser extent, and so forth down the line.

Why do I have to mark myself as “me”?

You are always – as concerns the ranking – the most important person, i.e. you will appear always in the first rank. If you mark yourself as “me”, you will be able to remove yourself from the person panel via the Chilibase menu in the Outlook toolbar, which leads to greater clarity. And the "Show directly" function does only work if have marked yourself as "Me".

What should I do with automatic e-mails, newsletters and mass mailings?

Move these e-mails easily in our Chilibase® Person Panel with the Drag&Drop or the “Move to Spam” function in the spam folder.

Another solution is: click on “Help” in the Outlook® toolbar, “Disabled Items” and activate the Add-In Chilibase® here.

Vista:

I can’t see Chilibase in Windows Vista despite the fact that the installation was successful. Why not?

One possibility is that Chilibase is not activated in the Add-In Manager. To change this, go to „Trust Center“ in the Outlook menu. Select „Add-ins“. Under "Inactive Application Add-ins", you should be able to find a Chilibase entry here. Select this and click on "Go To", tick the box next to Chilibase and click on OK. Chilibase is now among the „Active Applciations – Add ins.“

Another possibility is that the "User Account Control" (UAC) is deactivated. Please turn this on. Go to Start/Run, and type in "msconfig". Click on enter. In "Tools", look for the option „Enable User Account Control.“ Mark this and click on "launch". You’ll need to restart your computer.

Which file should I start in order to install Chilibase on Vista?

Please start only the "Setup.exe" file.

I get the "Error Code 2869" when I try to install Chilibase on Windows Vista. What should I do?

First possibility is: Your Outlook is still open or still running in the system tray. Please assure that Outlook is closed, check that in your task manager. Second possibility: Please reinstall Chilibase! In most cases two installations of Chilibase would fix this "Error Code 2869".
Another solution could be: Create a batch file with the following command: msiexec.exe /i chilibase.msi /L* log.txt
Save the file then right-click it and select "Run as Administrator". That makes it work.

Outlook:

How can I designate colors to people in Outlook?

This is a useful function in Outlook. Go to Tools in the Outlook menu, click on „Organize“, then select „Using Colors“. Choose a mail from the person you would like to designate a color. The name of the person will be listed under organizer options. You can select the desired color and then click on „Accept Color.“ This contact will appear in your mailbox in the selected color. This function enables you to more easily differeniate people in your mailbox.

Worth knowing:

What are “cross-cutting issues”?

“Cross-cutting issues” are problems occurring with more than just structures. In the case of Outlook® these are problems concerning the communication not just in terms of folders.

What does “communication intelligence” refer to?

“Communication intelligence” is a discipline which is engaged in obtaining information and the analysis of communication data. Chilibase® will render possible Communication intelligence by tools being suitable for every day’s life. Analogous to CI “Business intelligence” does exist, which instead uses business data of firms as a source of knowledge.

What does “associated searching” mean?

In contrast to “associated searching” you can also look for data by “explicit search”. Chilibase® represents relations, classifies your searching result and will allow you logical conclusions. Outlook® on its own is only able to search explicit - the result will remain undefined, without both - classification and interpretation.

What does “traceability” mean?

“Traceability” is the possibility of tracing back data. Nowadays this term is only known with respect to products and commercial articles, but it also describes the possibility of determining - at any time - the exact time, location and manufacturers who produce, process and transport a product, etc. The possibility of tracing back information, however, is a very important aspect in the field of communication. Unfortunately all starts on unified messaging have not given rise to any usable solutions. Nevertheless communication will play a role on many technical levels. Since several years the company Axonic researches in this area and is creating new solutions (patent application pending) which will be offered on the market in the future.
